At the end of a meeting with a couple of young fellows, I was "advised" to watch the official first video from the camp of R2Bees.
I hesitated initially because I had heard varying opinions about the video of the hit song "Kiss Your Hand". Finally I agreed to watch the video and give my boys my thoughts and...... my oh my!
I was in for a shocker! I have heard numerous opinions and I counter each one of them.
I object to the review that the inclusion of more girls would have made the video "extra-o" in anyway.
I object to the review that the video is the best in town thus far.
I object to the review that the video tied in, in anyway, to the song.
I object to the concept of the video.... That is if there was one.
Firstly, don't get it twisted! I am a huge fan of R2Bees and all they stand for. Anyone who sees any of my tweets will easily confirm it.
But the truth needs to told and who better to do that but Mz Yayra Tay :D (I am notorious for that.)
According to sources, the director for the video is not even based in Ghana. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that is what you get when you hire someone with such a background.
Frankly, Phamous People would have done a better job (and charge much cheaper, I am sure).
I do not think the director paid any attention to what the song really meant because that video...... Hmmmm
And the group... They should have stood their ground. I am supposing they knew what they wanted from the beginning. Or didn't they?
Correct me if I am being presumptous, but did the R2Bees camp not pay for the services of the director? In effect could they not demand what exactly would have made the video one of the best?
I do not want to lay all the blame on the director. I hold the artistes equally to blame. It is their video and their name being talked about not the director's. I am pretty sure they saw the video before it was premiered.
I heard though that the director had enough shots to give a better video. My question now is, are our standards now that low that we accept whatever we are given?
I rest my case with my very subtle statement that, I am not a fan, in any way, shape or form, of the 'Kiss Your Hand" video.
As usual, feel free to critique me if I over-assumed or was incorrect in any way.
well said! #cosign
